WHAT IS AN EXECUTIVE COACH?
An executive coach is someone who has years of experience in the corporate world and focuses on ensuring an executive has the skills needed to succeed, can help them overcome big picture issues in their business and is operating at their physical and mental peak.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN AN EXECUTIVE COACH AND A BUSINESS COACH?
These two coaches likely have some overlap, but the difference is in the area of focus for each one. A business coach zeroes in on the operation as a whole, making suggestions on things like strategic planning, marketing and policy creation. An executive coach instead focuses on the individual, not the company. Since this is the case, an executive coach will help a person build skills and become more savvy, which in turn helps the company thrive.
WHAT LEADERSHIP SKILLS DOES AN EXECUTIVE COACH HAVE?
Leadership training is a big part of executive coaching, and a coach can determine areas of improvement for an executive and help turn those into strengths. These can include improving their communication, helping them delegate more effectively and providing insight into how to keep employees motivated to succeed.

When I work with clients, I try to ask them which skills they feel they need improvement with and also work closely enough with them to make recommendations on areas of focus as well. Once we have a good idea of how they can improve, we make a plan to address their unique strengths and weaknesses in order to make them the best possible version of themselves.
